The two problems every car park has
Car park wayfinding is two separate problems that get treated as one.
The first is getting a driver to a space. Level signage and bay counters handle that reasonably well, and drivers accept a certain amount of circling as normal.
The second is getting them back. A driver who parked in a hurry, walked out through a different exit and returned four hours later has no reliable memory of the level, the zone or the colour. This is the problem people actually complain about, and almost no signage is designed for it, because all the signage points inward toward spaces rather than outward toward the car.
It is also the problem where a scanned code fits perfectly. A driver scans the marker by their bay on the way out, and the map remembers where they left it. On the way back they can search for the level and zone rather than walking the whole deck. For operators, it removes one of the most common and least productive requests security teams handle.

What is parking garage wayfinding?
Parking garage wayfinding covers both directions: guiding drivers to an available space, and helping them find their vehicle and the right pedestrian exit afterwards. The second half is the part usually left out.
How does it help drivers find their car?
A code by each bay or zone identifies where the driver parked when they scan it, so on their return they can search for that zone rather than relying on memory.
